Miracle Worker: Kaylan Mahone

Bad hair day? No problem. Battling bad hair can be a drag, but we have deemed Kaylan Mahone our "go to woman" when it comes to slaying nappy tresses.

Licensed stylist Kaylan Mahone has had her hands in frizzy manes, long locks, and curly strands longer than many twenty-year-olds. Growing up styling her mother's hair, she developed an extreme passion and decided to pursue it as a career when she got older. What kind of an eleven-year-old was she? Confident to say the least, and she still is today. She sports a very edgy, yet fun look that screams rockstar from just a glance. She said, "Sometimes you have to display that 'I don't give a f---' attitude that was always present, but never showcased!" She has literally showcased hair at several hairshows and in Carbondale she styles on average ten people per week, beyond her busy schedule. Outside of classes, this woman is also a member of SPC lectures committee, and on the executive board of NAACP and Vanity Fashion Fair Models. Mahone has future goals to become a successful spa owner, and also a cosmetology educator. Her love for hair is easily conveyed as she works through hair as it is her own, passion is one thing a good stylist must have and cannot go without.
